Catch23 Pilot Taping at CBC

catch23

The popular improv show that happens every Friday at 8pm only at Comedy Bar is becoming a TV pilot and I’m more than a little stoked about it! Thanks to DFP Productions for bringing the live show that’s rocked Toronto for more than a decade to the small screen (hopefully).

Monday December 15th at 7pm we’re doing a live TV taping at the CBC. I’ll be hosting the show and I’ll be joined by special guest judge Ennis Esmer (The Listener, Red Oaks). Teams will be announced shortly. For FREE tickets email catch23@comedy.ca and leave your full name and the amount of tickets you’d like to reserve.

If you wanna check out what the TV version of the show will look like we’ll be doing the TV version of the show for the next two weeks at Comedy Bar. Come check them out! See you guys at the taping!

2012 certainly was a year

New Years Party

We made it. We’re all alive! (except those of us who have died and those of you who died reading “we made it”) 2012 is over and like everyone else on the planet (except the Chinese) a new year is beginning. I thought I’d have a small reflect on the past year.

It was a fun year filled with new experiences. I didn’t get to perform on stage as much as I’d like but I still managed to achieve more in my entertainment career than in years past. I’ve been thinking about recently and came to the conclusion that I probably should have been focusing my effort on television and online content than live performance the last few years. I feel like in Canada being a live comedic performer and having a successful career in the industry don’t necessarily correlate.

I will say that I had a lot of fun working on Comedy Bar season 2 on BITETV with Gary Rideout, Pat Thornton, Tal Zimmerman and Brendan Halloran plus all those special guests we had on the show. Working on The Bullpen with Jose Canseco development with Brendan and the fine people at Air Farce productions was also fun despite all the frustrations with the project. Hopefully we can get it up and running in 2013.

I learned a lot working at The Score this past year. I hosted The Break with Renee, wrote for the Aftermath blog, hosted the Aftermath Daily Dose podcast as well as occasionally co-hosting Aftermath TV. I met some great people there. Although I enjoy watching sports more now that I don’t work for a sports network. I’m actually missing the podcast and now brainstorming some ideas on some type of re-launch. Not sure about the subject matter but I’ve definitely started thinking about it again.

Luckily, I got a chance to host a Never Ever Do This At Home for Discovery Channel and to say “I learned a lot” would be an understatement. Waking up everyday at 5am and getting home at 8pm for 2 months was somehow the best time of my life. Everyday I just crossed my fingers that I would be able to do it all again. (fingers are still crossed) I look forward to the show premièring this April. Hopefully the fun I had will come across on the small screen and you guys will all tune in. I’m not afraid of explosions any more so that’s cool.

Currently, I’m living in New York City with a work visa that I’m hoping to use to rekindle my love for live performance and break into the massive US entertainment industry. It’s going to be tough essentially starting all over again but at least this time I know where to start. I look forward to the challenge, meeting new people and rediscovering myself all over again. I hope I don’t make an ass of myself. I like this town. My girlfriend and our dog live here too so it’s nice.

My most popular post of this year was my Top 10 Chocolate Bars Canada post that easily gets 30 hits a day. The Hacksaw Jim Duggan parody Twitter account is at 32,000+ followers and I’m still not bored of writing stupid wrestling jokes. My New Years resolution is to post more on my website and have more fun. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds. I’ve seen a lot of movies and enjoyed many sandwiches. I hope to continue this trend in 2013.

I hope you all have a great 2013. This post wasn’t all that funny… huh… maybe I should go back and add some jokes? Whatever. It’s fine.

Oh look, a TV show I’m in called Comedy Bar!

Hey guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted something cause I’ve been super busy doing a WWE podcast, writing a baseball web-series with Jose Canseco that seems to be going nowhere and experimenting the effects of alcohol on the body.

Anyways, I’m in a pretty cool web-series that’s currently airing on BITETV here in Canada. It has a great cast and some amazing guest cameos! (notice Bret “The Hitman” Hart in the photo? He’s the professional wrestler in the middle) Some guests include Colin Mochrie, Amanda Walsh, Rachel Wilson, Gavin Crawford and more!

Check out one of my favorite episodes below. If you don’t know what’s happening and you like if you should go back and watch the whole thing!

You should also check out the special series prequel that aired prior to the series launch!
